GTA 6 on PS6: The Ultimate 4K 60 FPS Experience?
Author: Martin Pavlič / / Updated:
Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) is the generation’s most anticipated game. While it launches first on PS5, PS6 should unlock its full Vice City potential.
Why PS6 is the GTA 6 console
- 4K 60 FPS with ray tracing vs PS5’s 30 FPS compromises.
- No compromised city density thanks to Zen 6 CPU and PSSR.
- Path tracing for realistic lighting in Rockstar’s open world.
PS6’s ~35+ TFLOPS and dedicated NPU let GTA 6 hold 60 FPS without dynamic resolution dips. If you plan to buy GTA 6 once and keep it for years via backwards compatibility, PS6 version is endgame.
Vice’s PS5 Pro vs PS6 verdict frames PS6 as the most powerful console to play GTA 6 on, a buy-now-or-wait angle covered in PS5 Pro vs PS6.

GTA 6 on PS5 vs PS6: graphics and frame rate compared
PS5 is expected to run GTA 6 at 30 FPS with visual cutbacks, while PS6 targets 4K 60 FPS with fuller ray tracing and full city density. Neither version is officially detailed, but the gap follows directly from the leaked hardware delta.
| Area | PS5 (expected) | PS6 (expected) |
|---|---|---|
| Frame rate | 30 FPS | 4K 60 FPS target |
| Ray tracing | Cut back | Full RT / path tracing |
| City density | Reduced | Full density (Zen 6 + PSSR 2.0) |
| Resolution | Dynamic, with dips | Locked 4K via NPU upscaling |
Budget the box in PS6 price before deciding which version to buy.
Will GTA 6 get a free PS6 upgrade?
Unknown, and you should budget for a paid enhanced edition. Rockstar charged for the GTA 5 move from PS4 to PS5, so a free PS6 patch would break pattern unless Sony funds it. Watch pricing in game prices and timing in PS6 release date.
